Cameras are prohibited inside the spaces of justice. However, with the approval of my employers, I start a second-shift (usually after hours or on weekends) and bring the ruminations from my work day to life by choreographing real judges, inmates, police, lawyers, bureaucrats, and litigants in what I characterize as micro-performance. My work in this series is a visual re-framing of what would otherwise be the routine optics of the corporeal space of justice into personal navigations, survival, humanness, and unspoken truths about the soul and its relationship to the bureaucratic institutions governing our lives.
